Fall Seminar 2010

November 12, 2010

The Vandenberg-sponsored BRC Fall Seminar was a great success! The evening was standing room only with 65 attendees. As Vandenberg sponsored this event, Dexter gave his semi-annual State of the Market speech and tax attorney Peter Blond answered dozens of questions about NYC townhouse tax assessments, the ins and outs of the tax code, and how to do your due diligence when considering a New York brownstone purchase. Everyone seemed to enjoy Mr. Blond’s talk, and plenty of questions were asked and answered. According to the feedback, many owners found this information incredibly helpful. Thank you to everyone who participated. For those of you who could not attend, we will be posting videos of the event at www.townhouseexperts.com over the next few weeks. BRC will also be hosting another Vandenberg-sponsored townhouse seminar within three months, so be sure to keep your ear to the ground!

Have you ever considered donating part or all of your townhouse to a non-profit organization? Planned Giving Expert Shelly Butler will explain how you can, by establishing a trust or annuity with your house. Benefits include: Huge tax deductions; A guaranteed income for life; Avoidance of capital gains on appreciated property; Reduction of estate taxes; The opportunity to honor someone or be recognized by having a name placed on a permanent endowment or a plaque. A West Side townhouse owner will also share her experience of donating her building on West 87th Street to a college, keeping part of the value of the building for herself, receiving a guaranteed annuity for life, and having a entry area to the college named in her honor.
